Pool Peace

A little more pool time, please!

There is a shallow ledge in Uncle Jay and Uncle Rick's pool that is perfect for sitting or swimming (I kick my feet and move my arms while my belly rests on the ledge).

Chillax.

"Peace!"

Hats

Momma has been suggesting that I wear a hat when we go outside because I really do not like to have the sun in my eyes. I have not been inclined to follow this advice. However, momma informed me that this hat belonged to Hutson and that he gave it to me to wear.

Well, why didn't she say so to begin with? I love this hat. I love Hutson. I wore this hat to Target, I wore it to take a nap (hats are perfectly comfortable to sleep in), I wore it . . .

. . . in the swimming pool.

Elyse wore a hat in the pool too.

We had a great time swimming. Thank you Uncle Jay and Uncle Rick for letting us cool off in your beautiful pool.
My hat got wet so I could not sleep in it last night. Don't worry, it is already dry and I am wearing it.

Say What?

During a discussion of the correct spelling of pool:
Daddy: "Pool starts with a P."
Owen: "P is also for pikes."
Daddy: "No, Owen it is pipes."
Owen: "No, it is PiKes."
Daddy: "I am sorry, Owen, it is PiPes."
Owen: "I am sorry, Daddy, it is PIKES."

Paint, Play, Pictures

I love to paint. I got to use watercolors and finger paints. There are no pictures of me using watercolors because momma holds the water cup.

You can see that I used my body as well as my paper as a surface upon which to apply my art.
This creativity meant I had to take a bath after I finished my painting.

Here I am after my bath making letters on my magnadoodle.

I am so happy!

We decided I needed big boy pictures now that I have a big boy bed. These are car parts that spell OWEN. Momma took these pictures of Uncle Steve's cars. I like my new big boy pictures.

Big Boy Bed

What do you think?

We converted my crib into a big boy bed on Monday morning.
I think it is really neat that I can climb in it myself.

I haven't really been climbing out of it which my parents think is just fine.

I am very pleased with myself and my big boy bed.

In other news, I went to the potty on Sunday. This is the first time I have actually produced anything in the potty rather than just sitting there.

Say What?
We were at the Target pharmacy the other day to get ear drops and I was reading the letters of the alphabet where they store the medicine. The letter D was flipped up and I could not read it. I asked the pharmacists, "Would you please fix the D? I am trying to read all the letters from A to Z."

While reading my Animal ABC book, I said, "Good job holding that F, frog. You are doing a great job, squirrel. You are being very careful and not dropping the S. Oh wow, otter, you are sliding in the O so well." This is one of my favorite books. My Great Aunt Di, Great Uncle Dan, and Cousin Jake gave it to me. I love it! It shows each letter of the alphabet with a different animal that begins with that letter. Most of the animals are holding letters.

Metamorphosis

I learned a great word: metamorphosis. I am not willing to disclose the source of this new vocabulary word. I decided, however, that it was time I shared it with the world. I began the process of broadcasting my new knowledge by standing on the fireplace hearth and saying, "Metamorphosis."

This pronouncement was greeted by my mother with, "Wow, what a great word. Owen, do you know what metamorphosis means?"

What a foolish question. Of course I know what it means, so I replied, "It is when a caterpillar becomes a butterfly."

Although we could not recreate the original experience, you can get a sense of things in this video. You can also see me making numbers with my hands. I am making the shape of the number (for example, a circle made with one hand on top of a circle made with the other hand is an eight).

Say What?

Owen: "Cookie! Cookie! May I please have a cookie! Me love big cookie!"
Daddy: "Owen, you are a cookie monster!"
Owen: "Momma, are you an Owen monster?"
Momma: "Yes. Me love big Owen."

Lawn mower

It is a lot of work keeping these sidewalks well trimmed, but I am just the boy for the job. I use this bubble mower almost every day. It is Houston, as you know, and we are certainly not lacking in rain or sunshine. Therefore, diligence is called for when it comes to mowing.

In case you are wondering, this is the courtyard of our town home.

This is my first ride on my tricycle. My legs are not quite long enough but I enjoyed the ride anyway.

Back to the lawn mower but this time with head protection:
I did not want to remove my helmet after my trike ride. Lawn mowing can be dangerous!

Alligator

Allow me to draw your attention to the fact that there is an alligator on the front of my overalls.

I believe you are aware that I LOVE alligators!

Not more than PupPup, of course.

"Momma, take a picture of my puppy!"

"Please!"

You can see my sweet (the sweet potato) in the background. It grows so much every day! It is amazing.

"It's a red pepper!"

I am an excellent sous chef. I love helping daddy cook.

Zoe likes to help too. She sits on the wine basket and I sit on the counter.

It is perhaps hard to tell in this picture but I am juggling. I asked daddy, "Do you know how to make juggling?" We were talking to mimi and pops on the computer and do you know what? Pops knows how to juggle. Wow!

A little more juggling.

Say What?
Today at the park I said, "Do you know how to make jump?" Momma and daddy both do. We did lots of jumping.

Momma: "Owen, here's the plan, we are going to go to the grocery store and buy milk."
When we arrived at the grocery store, momma said, "We're at the grocery store. Owen, what are we going to do here?"
Owen: "The plan is to get milk and cookies! Mummm, there're good."

Now I know my . . .

I love letters. I am particularly fond of making letters on my magnadoodle. The alphabet is amazing.
